Why are folks from west and east descending upon New Jersey and further, Somerset County and in particular Bridgewater?
Bridgewater has it all. It’s a great place to live.
Let’s talk about commuting. Bridgewater is about an hour or so to NYC, about 30 minutes to Newark International Airport, and about 1 ½ to Philadelphia by car, train or bus.
Local employment opportunities are alive with a plethora of substantial well-known cutting-edge companies like Bausch & Lomb, MetLife, Qualcomm, Chubb, Brother, etc., need I say more?
You couldn’t cover all the cultural offerings in a lifetime. There’s NJ Performing Arts Center nearby, Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, the historic State Theatre in New Brunswick, Broadway, Opera, Carnegie Hall, unparalleled museums.
Topflight education: Princeton, Rutgers and the University of Medicine and Dentistry to name a few.
Recreation? Boating and sailing at Round Valley Reservoir; freshwater fishing on the Delaware River and saltwater fishing in the surf off the world-famous beaches of the Jersey shore; miles and miles of hiking in the Watchung Mountains Reservation; 82 public and private golf courses in Somerset County; camping, skiing and snowboarding, the glamor of Atlantic City’s casinos. You name it, it's nearby.
Shopping and dining in abundance: Bridgewater Commons with 175 stores and restaurants including Macy’s and Bloomingdales, Zagat (now Googles Infatuation) and Michelin-worthy restaurants. Explore historic, quaint Somerville with its interesting shops and variety of great restaurants.
Talk about history, it seems like there are Revolutionary War historical marker everywhere. Washington Crossing, where he supposedly tossed the dollar across the Delaware, Rockingham where Washington dismissed the troops after their victory and the Middlebrook Encampment where George Washington did indeed “slept here”. Very educational for the kids and very exciting for all interested in our nation’s history.
Live amongst tree-lined streets, mature flora and fauna along winding roads and mountains. What a great place!

It’s great to see Jersey City undergo change just like West Village, Soho, Williamsburg, Park Slope, etc. before it.

Jersey City’s dynamic renaissance shows no sign of slowing down. The pioneering development of the Jersey City waterfront is reaching the saturation point and the growth is spreading south and west.

Areas such as Bergen-Lafayette, The Heights, McGinley Square and Journal Square are where its at. Now, some houses that used to go for $100,000 in the 70’s now can go for over $1 million.

Due to the ever-increasing high cost of living in New York City and the ex-urban feel of Jersey City individuals, couples and new families are flocking here.

Eateries like hip brunch restaurants, artisanal coffee shops, green juice bars, microbreweries, art galleries, spas and trendy clothing stores are popping up everywhere.

With its rich cultural diversity and proximity to New York City, it nevertheless has a character all its own.

Sometimes call “New York City’s 6th borough” Jersey City is well connected in all directions by public transportation like the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, Path, New Jersey Turnpike, etc.

If you’re interested in investment and/or living there, fortunes that were made from the waterfront boom a few years ago are as well happening elsewhere in Jersey City and you’d be well advised to check it out now.
