There's something timeless about the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. Standing at the end of nearly a mile-long granite breakwater, it's one of Maine's most recognizable coastal landmarks—and seeing it from the air offers a perspective most people never experience.
From above, the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse looks peaceful—but getting there is part of the adventure.

📍 Here are a few fun facts:
⚓ The granite breakwater stretches 7/8 of a mile (4,346 feet) into Rockland Harbor, making the round-trip walk about 1.8 miles. Most visitors complete it in 45–60 minutes, depending on how often they stop for the incredible views.
🗓️ The lighthouse has stood watch over the harbor since 1902—that's 124 years of guiding mariners safely home.
🪨 The breakwater itself took nearly 20 years to build and required more than 750,000 tons of granite, creating a protected harbor that helped Rockland grow into one of Maine's busiest ports.

Seeing this landmark from the air really puts its scale into perspective. It's easy to understand why it's one of Maine's most photographed lighthouses.

🚒 We’re honored to have supported the Baldwin Fire Department’s regional pre-incident planning exercise at Robbins Lumber.

At CR Aerial Services, we believe aerial technology can play an important role in emergency planning and public safety. From our rugged coastline and historic lighthouses to afternoons on the water and fireworks lighting up the night sky, today is a reminder of just how fortunate we are to call this beautiful state home.

As we gather with family and friends, let's also take a moment to remember why we celebrate.
