Overcast cloudy days are great as I can photograph all day. Although I cannot plan for in ahead for it. If it happens to be an overcast day predicted and you would like a shoot, feel free to call me for a spontaneous shoot. If our calendar is free, I am up for it! We are looking forward to photographing you and want to be sure that you consider these helpful tips. Please be on time and prepared for your shoot. I cannot control the sun so time is precious. I give a lot of direction and we move quickly to keep the light right. Count on a fairly brisk pace. If you would like various people in different shots, you may want to write an outline of names for each shot so I can get all that you plan for. Often times intentions are forgotten if not on paper. Parents if we are using children you may want to practice with them. Feel free to bring a snapshot with the expression that you would like me to try and capture. My own children have a "picture face" that hardly looks like them. Relaxing is the best way to get the true personality out. Practicing with kids gives them an idea of what to expect. I will coach small head turns with slight variations to the smile & eyes. Wearing solid colors always photographs well. The colors that you feel best in will make your smile brighter! If you go with a print, think not too bold. You are welcome to change your clothes, but I cannot provide a dressing room as we are outside. Wear something that makes you feel good! If you have something you want in your photo by all means go for it! Flowers, Bibles, Teddy bears, Rosaries... We can work it in. Makeup. I can work wonders with bags under eyes & acne. I will make it go away with editing if you prefer. Although, I need for it to be covered with makeup that matches your skin. Ladies- particularly teens; eye makeup is crucial to your portraits. Please please please please do not overdo it. A heavily lined eye will be the focal point of any picture. I strongly urge you to NOT line your bottom lash line. Please look on our website and see examples of the make up used. Light pink shadow with white shadow highlights under the bottom lash line and blended under the eyebrow is a great fresh natural face. Burts Bees makes tinted chap stick that goes perfectly for a natural look and you can add a little shine. Moisturizer that has a little tint and small sparkle can really add a nice touch. Consider it if your legs and arms will show. Men & women- it is very wise to use handlotion before your shoot. Barefeet are fantastic! Keep those piggies trimmed I may have you take off your shoes! Ladies think of your toenails and fingernails! Soft pink/beige is best. You want people to look at you when they see your portrait, not your fingernails. For children make sure the nails are trimmed and clean. It will show up if they aren't.
