RANT ALERT: Because parenting is hard, not every “Insta-worthy” moment is an “everyone is happy and behaving” type of moment and MOST IMPORTANT we only get this one shot. Loving parents do everything we can to prevent the crying, pain and any sadness our children may face. Today we made them cry...we had a pretty strong conversation with our 6 and 8 year old about guns. How they’re to be respected and used with good judgement and proper training...and in our humble opinions - NOT for games. I said things like “do you know how many children have been hurt or killed by guns because someone was thoughtless or irresponsible?” and “guns are NOT toys even when they are toys” and “pointing a gun, even a finger gun can be interpreted as a threat?”. I know, I know...I’m being ridiculous by some people’s standard but this is our parenting style and the job is to raise to decent humans. I’m not typically a foul mouthed person but..we can not F¥CK this up! To quote Charlotte York Goldenblatt in SATC....• I choose my choice!”
