🌧️ Tropical Storm Lala Update 🌧️

Tropical storm conditions continue to impact our area. Please stay indoors, avoid flooded roads, shoreline areas, downed power lines, and damaged trees, and keep children and pets inside.

⚡ Power Outage Update: We are aware of the outage impacting Hale Na Koa Community. NAVFAC crews are onsite working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We will share updates as they become available.

Watch for important updates and instructions through email and text messaging channels. We will continue to share information as conditions evolve.

Hurricane Lala 8 p.m. update: Lala’s center is now 55 miles west of South Point with maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.

Lala is slowly gaining forward speed and now moves northwest at 10 miles per hour, with a gradual westward turn predicted on Sunday.

Damaging winds and heavy rainfall are forecast to persist at hurricane-level conditions for the Big Island overnight.

Tropical storm conditions will spread westward from Maui Nui to Oʻahu overnight and then to Kauaʻi County through tomorrow.

People throughout the state of Hawaiʻi should remain in safe shelter overnight and avoid unnecessary travel.

The National Hurricane Center continues to issue Hurricane Lala bulletins every six hours – 5 a.m., 11 a.m., 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. – with intermediate advisories at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at hurricanes.gov.

HNL Alert: 11:32 AM 08-15-2026 - Tropical Storm Warning continues for Oahu, with tropical-storm-force winds expected this evening through Sunday morning. Strong winds, heavy rain, dangerous surf and flooding are possible. Conditions will worsen this afternoon and evening. Complete preparations now and be ready for possible power outages and other impacts.

Oahu could begin experiencing impacts from Tropical Storm Lala Saturday afternoon and evening. Lala is expected to strengthen as it approaches the Hawaiian Islands, and the forecast track and intensity could still change.

For Oahu, heavy rain, strong winds, and dangerous surf are possible this weekend. These conditions could continue for several hours after impacts begin and into Sunday.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Emergency Management and Leadership continue to closely monitor the tropical storm. We will update you as necessary.

Regardless of potential impacts, use it as a reminder to review your emergency plan.
• Ensure your contact information in AtHoc is current.
• Check your emergency kits and fill up on supplies. 14 days food, water, medication.
• Check in with family and friends: how you will get in contact and where you will go during an emergency or evacuation?
• Know your zone: Check if you are in a flood prone area or exposed to strong winds.
• Prepare your home: Trim trees, clean gutters, seal gaps, bring in loose outdoor items.
• Check insurance policy and have information handy.
