Willow Ponds is a neighborhood in Hood River, Oregon which opened in the fall of 2004 by Developer/Designers Jacquie and Pasquale Barone. As developers our goal is to create a neighborhood where neighbors share time together, take care of each other and enjoy the natural environment. We believe smaller, well designed homes allow you more time to
spend quality time with your family, friends and ne
ighbors. People who visit always ask 'What makes Willow Ponds feel so different from other residential neighborhoods"
1) What you won't see at Willow Ponds is tall fences between homes. Homes are designed in relation to each other to create privacy as well as earthen berms planted in trees and shrubs that create a natural screen. To add interest, some privacy panels are created to add screening where needed.
2) What you won't see at Willow Ponds is the same sized rectangle lot with straight streets. Streets are designed in relation to the protected wetlands and the natural contour of the site.
3) What you won't see at Willow Ponds is the same house, same front lawn. Each lot is given a specific limit to its footprint and layout and the homes are designed in relation to the location and the homes around it. Large front yards of lawn are discouraged, however some homes do have lawns in their back yards surrounded by natural borders of trees and shrubs.
4) What you won't see at Willow Ponds is lots of hard surfaces with loads of parked cars along it. The roads in Willow Ponds are private roads owned and maintained by the Homeowners Association as part of of being a PUD development. This allows for narrower streets where parking is in designated off-street parking areas throughout the neighborhood.
5) What you won't see at Willow Ponds is the big tall boxes of houses so tightly built together. Homes in Willow Ponds could be just as close as other homes in other neighborhoods but by designing the homes in relation to each other with respect to scale and elevation and by planting large trees between them, the feeling is different. As the developer of Willow Ponds we are dedicated to working with our new homeowners, designers and builders right to the completion of all 60 lots by providing guidance in house design, landscape design and more. All house and landscape designs go through a review process that allows current homeowners to assure that what has been created continues to be so. We encourage better quality built homes with natural elements that reflect the northwest environment and Hood River's history.
