Laurie Rushing has announced her intention to seek the Arkansas State Representative District 26 seat, which includes parts of Garland and Hot Spring Counties. Rushing grew up in rural Garland County and is the Executive Broker and REALTOR for Trademark Real Estate, Inc., a locally owned family business started by Rushing and her mother, Lorna Nobles. In her time in the real estate business, Lauri
e has served in many industry positions including the National Association of REALTORS Federal Political Coordinator for Tom Cotton, District 3 Vice President for the Arkansas REALTORS Association, President Hot Springs Board of REALTORS, Graduate REALTOR Leadership Arkansas, and Graduate of the National Association of REALTORS Leadership Academy. Rushing has also received the Omega Tau Rho Medal of Service for the National Association of REALTORS and was chosen as the 2009 Arkansas State REALTOR of the Year. As a business woman, Rushing understands the importance of encouraging job creation and economic growth in the Garland County and Hot Springs County areas, along with acknowledging that private property rights are of the utmost importance in the creation of adequate housing and the development of productive industries and farms. When asked why Rushing was running for the State Representative seat, she stated: “Family is the most important resource in a person’s life, and I want to make sure we continue to move in a forward direction in making Arkansas an attractive place to live, work and start a business. Arkansas needs to be a place where our children obtain an excellent education, return to our communities to work upon graduating, and stay to raise the next generation of Arkansans. Finally, as a mother and grandmother I believe in the conservative values of the sanctity of life and protecting our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.”
Rushing also feels strongly about fair and honest elections. How could anyone oppose showing an ID to vote? Especially when the state supplies you one for free if you do not have one." Laurie is married to Cliff Rushing and they have two children and two grandchildren. Daughter, Tara, is married to 2nd Lieutenant Thomas J. Watts of the United State Marine Corps and they have two children, Tommy and Tenley. The Watts family is stationed in Quantico, VA. Rushing’s son, Kevin, is a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and currently resides in Little Rock.
