Hate to break it to you, but the perfect home doesn’t exist. Anyone who tells you otherwise isn’t being honest.💣

You see, when we bought this home, I immediately fell in love. It had the outdoor space I wanted, the location and schools we wanted, and it checked off almost all of our non-negotiables.

However, it still lacked things; like large closets for the kids, a third car garage, a guest bedroom, a pool bathroom, etc. But, it was 95% perfect. So, we took it!✅

Fast forward 5 years in, and we are still in the messy middle of doing home projects. So many of them are still left undone, and my list of things I want to do keeps getting longer and longer.

I’m learning to live in this space. The Messy Middle.🌪️

I’m sure you’re familiar with the space I am talking about. It’s when life is hectic, and budgets are tight, and you’d rather take a spontaneous family vacay instead of remodeling a bathroom.

Yes, that middle. That’s where we are.

And you know what? I love my home in the midst of this Messy Middle. I still host parties, we still have friends over for dinner, and it’s all going to be just fine.😊

The truth is, the projects may not ever end. And you may have started with a plan, and that plan may have changed. And that’s okay.

Shopping for your “dream home” may not look the way you thought it would look. The home you are in now may not be the one you dreamt it would be. Or, the project you want to get done may be left sitting there for a while.

Relax. Find ways to make small changes around your home until your time and budget allow for bigger ones. And if you’re shopping for a home {or thinking about it soon} go ahead and let yourself in on a little secret: even the “perfect one” will have flaws. 🤫😉

This is exactly how I serve my clients beyond the closing table. I walk with them as they make their house a home, and I advise/guide them even when right now isn’t the perfect time for them to move.

Because your house can still be a home - even in the Messy Middle.❤️

Warmer weather have you itching for a pool (again)? 👙

As a real estate agent, I often see clients focusing solely on ROI when it comes to home updates.

While ROI is important, it’s crucial to remember that not every dollar spent will bring a dollar in return. 💸

Sometimes, the value lies in creating lasting memories for your family or enhancing your own enjoyment of your home.

So, don’t just measure your decisions based on ROI alone; consider the intangible benefits that come with making your home a more comfortable and meaningful space.

Can you really argue that it’s a mistake if you made choices that best serve your family? 🧐

Some home professionals might tell you to never get rid of the sink in your laundry room, as that could be the one thing a future buyer might want.

But the truth is... that sink wasn’t serving our family.

We had different needs, and we chose a design that would make our lives (ahem, mine 😅) easier and less cluttered. And in the end, that’s worth it!

We compromised and capped off the plumbing in the wall in case a future buyer might want to add in a sink. Win win!

These types of conversations are life-giving when I have them with clients who call to ask for advice on home updates and renovations.

It’s just one of the many perks that come from working with an agent that knows and cares about YOU! 🫶🏼

Also, major props to Ashley Cousins Moore who did all my selections for this room. She’s a million times better at decorating and designing than I am. I’m still in love with the tile/paint/design she picked!!!!

One question I get asked often is the difference between property value and market price. Of course, clients aren’t using those exact words but they’re asking me “my neighbors house sold for XYZ, can mine?” or “what do you think I could sell my house for?” or “will XYZ update make my house sell faster?” Understanding the difference between these two terms is KEY in winning in the real estate market!

Hip hip hooray for closing day!! Made it to the finish line today with my sellers and a huge thank you to Melanie Shea Roberts for stepping in for me at the closing table! This precious family came to me through the referral of previous clients and when I met them, I knew we’d be friends! They wanted a slightly larger home with two bedrooms down, and a pool (because hello Houston heat 🥵🔥). Specific schools in were a preference for them and we made that happen too! We were able to negotiate leasebacks for them to make moving a breeze….and today they handed over the keys 🔑to their old home and are now onto the new chapter! Last year I helped their parents buy a home, and this year it was their turn in the 🔦spotlight! thank you for entrusting your son and daughter in law to me - your referral is the greatest compliment🥰!
