A neat perk from having first-hand watched The Woodlands grow into the gorgeous community it is now is reminiscing on the small-town events I got to experience as a kid. Believe it or not, beautiful Lake Woodlands was once just a big patch of dirt. The Woodlands hosted the last annual Bottom of the Lake Festival in 1985, and we had a blast stomping in the mud and watching the monster trucks that came to play! King Crunch raced another monster truck with tracks like a tank. I can’t remember the name of the tank truck… but King Crunch won! Of course this is what my 8-year-old-boy brain stored in long term memory.

My family and I still talk about how much fun we had at the bottom of the lake that day. When the lake was filled with water, it created the picture you recognize today, complete with a dragon (technically a serpent) as you drive down Woodlands Parkway and Lake Woodlands Drive and enjoy time at East Shore, Northshore Park, and Southshore Park!!

Here’s a cool article for more info: https://www.thewoodlands.com/2021/05/18/last-annual-bottom-of-the-lake-marked-the-beginning-of-lake-woodlands/

Happy New Years Eve! Today’s my favorite day to reflect on all that’s happened in the previous year, and look forward with anticipation of all the new year is yet to bring. I’m thankful for so many personal and professional highlights, not the least of which were my top 5 here:

5️⃣ Partnering with long-time friends and children-of-long-time-friends (!!) to find the perfect new home for your families

4️⃣ Putting my market data research skills to use helping our clients make sense of a rollercoaster year in real estate

3️⃣ Hosting our midsummer team training downtown followed by an Astros game

2️⃣ Joining hands with South Montgomery County Young Life to support our youth

And coming in at # 1️⃣: Continuing to serve you in our community!

I loved growing up in The Woodlands, I love raising my own family in The Woodlands, and helping you build your lives here in The Woodlands and surrounding areas is the icing on the cake. I’m rounding out my 10th year in real estate and it’s my honor to continue sharpening my skills and strengthening our brokerage services into our next decade!

Wherever you’re headed for NYE today, whether it’s the ball room or the living room, I hope it’s special, safe, and spent with the people you love. We’re walking across the street to a neighborhood gathering where the main course is MEAT. The men planned this party of course.

Happy New Year, friends. See you in 2023! 🎉🏡

How’s your storage situation? If you’re anything like me, your home can start feeling cluttery and like you’re drowning in “stuff.” Here are some easy tips for making your spaces and your storage situation work in your favor:

1. Make a list in priority order and set a goal to tackle one project a week. It might take you a year to get through them all but don't get discouraged. A beautiful, functional home takes work. Choose one area at a time to clear during each project so it doesn’t feel overwhelming - kitchen countertops, bathroom cabinet, pantry shelf, hallway closet, game room, etc.

2. Gather your supplies: bags for trash, boxes for donations, a hamper or basket for items that need relocating, and cleaning cloth/spray for a quick wipe down or sanitization before you finish.

3. Set a timer for each project and play “beat the clock!” Don’t overthink the weed-out process.

4. If you don’t use it or love it, or have multiples, donate it. Old decor, extra furniture, and jeans that don’t fit head into the donation box too. Check out your local donation pickup organizations. Books you’re finished with can head to used bookstores or share them with a friend. Broken or missing pieces to sets or games? Mystery boxes with no idea what’s inside? Throw them out. Baby gear is a little different - if it's relatively new (within 2 years) and in great shape, it can be accepted as donation or resale in most places. Call your local Women's Center for a point in the right direction.

5. Invest in or create practical storage solutions for clothes, shoes, toys, and tools. If rarely-used items are taking up prime real estate in your storage areas, relocate those items elsewhere.

And one last BONUS tip: r
ecruit your family to help (and reward them for a job well done!) 🍦🍦🍦

What tip seems easiest to start with? Or, what's the #1 priority project on YOUR list?

⏰ Down to the wire on the last closing of the year! These home owners are coming in next week to enjoy their brand new home in Montgomery. It was an absolute pleasure helping them get through the finish line via FaceTime inspections, walkthroughs, and remote closing. Totally looking forward to extending some Texas hospitality when they get here next week! Montgomery friends: what should their first dinner spot be?!
