Ever wonder why some homes just feel effortlessly pulled together? It's usually not because everything matches, it's because everything works together.

Here are three tips we use on nearly every project:

• Choose a consistent color palette. Repeating a few key colors throughout the home creates flow from room to room.

• Layer textures. Mixing wood, metal, fabrics, stone, and natural fibers adds depth and keeps a space from feeling flat.

• Repeat finishes thoughtfully. Whether it's black accents, brass hardware, or warm wood tones, repetition helps create a sense of continuity.

If something feels "off" in a room, the artwork is often the culprit. One of the biggest mistakes I see is hanging art too high.

A good rule of thumb is to hang artwork so the center of the piece is at eye level—typically about 57–60 inches from the floor.

A few other designer tips:
• Over furniture, artwork should feel connected to the piece below it—not floating above it.
• Bigger is usually better. Undersized art can make a wall feel unfinished.
• When creating a gallery wall, think of multiple pieces as one large composition.

The right artwork can completely transform a room, but placement matters just as much as the piece itself.
