I don't know if you are like me, wanting to do something to help out with disaster relief, but not free to actually go help...but wanting to do something.
If you would like to say Thank You to the Cajun Navy who came over to Houston during Harvey to help us out...here's a way you can help those devastated by Hurricane Laura...and say Thank You.
This is a letter from a coworker of mine, who has family in Lake Charles. He has been going over to Louisiana, every weekend, to help out. In the letter, he lists ongoing needs for the folks over in the area worst hit by Hurricane Laura.
If you would like to help out, especially those in the Northwest Houston area, reach out to us, as we are helping to collect items for the families in Louisiana. If you can help get the items to us, we will get the items to the collection site in time for his weekly trip to Lake Charles.
Or, if you are in another part of the country and have groups going to Louisiana to help out...below is a current list of what they need.

Hi All,
I just wanted to send an update and a HUGE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!
Last Friday [we] were able to help 3 families (including my own) due to your generosity as we were helping family and friends in Sulphur, Lake Charles, Cameron and Ragley, LA. A lot of the damage (about 95% of it) is wind related. Hurricane Laura ripped through the are sustaining 150MPH winds, and from my time distributing donations over the weekend they are estimating 100% electricity to the area to be restored in January. FEMA is staged in both Lake Charles and in Cameron Louisiana. No one in my family or immediate circle of friends were injured. The devastation is so vast, every one that I spoke to was in the mindset of “I don’t know where to start” when it comes to clean up/rebuilding. The damage is primarily in Cameron, Calcasieu and Beauregard Parish’s.
Quite frankly it’s a mess, but the community is strong and their main focus is getting back on their feet and homes/property re-built. I will be going back to Lake Charles and Cameron again this Friday morning (9-11-2020) with more supplies that I have collected this week. A local business has lent me a Box Truck, and thank you to those who have offered to lend trailers and/or assist with logistics as well.
Some have asked what other items are needed, other than what’s listed in the email below here are a few more items that are needed.
Ant poison
Tarps
Work gloves
Pillows
Blankets
Small first aid kits
Laundry detergent
Wheelbarrow
