Crime update – September 3, 2021 to October 14, 2021.
This is provided so that you may be informed of relevant police activity in your community.
Your officers received 1150 calls for service from September 3, 2021 to October 14, 2021. What is a “Call for Service?”
This is ANY incident or concern in which you may call us when you are in need of assistance. As a friendly reminder, we are dispatched through the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office at 281-341-4665 #1 or 281-346-2202 #1. You may also call our administrative/non-emergency line at 281-346-8888 - Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, (but we will not dispatch a call from this administrative number.)
Examples of a “Call For Service,” would be self-initiated activities, alarm calls, traffic accidents, motorist assistance, animal calls, suspicious activities, house watches, loud noise complaints, solicitors, disturbances and traffic complaints, just to name a few.
Some of the incidents stood out above the others.
Officers received a call to Cross Creek Bend Lane and Fry Road in regards to an LPR (License Plate Reader) “hit” on a stolen vehicle. The LPR provided dispatch with a photo of the vehicle and its direction of travel. Officers quickly converged on the area and located the vehicle travelling within the Cross Creek Ranch community. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the driver without incident. The “surprised” driver was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
One individual had way too much to drink just before lunchtime and had passed out in the parking lot at the Shell/McDonalds located on FM 1463 and FM 1093. The vehicle was running, his foot on the brake and he was slumped over caressing an open container of alcohol in his hand. THANKFULLY, we were able to remove him safely before his foot either slipped off the brake or he drove away after waking up from his drunken slumber. Subsequently, the driver was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Speaking of intoxicated drivers, Day Shift officers were once again dispatched to the Shell/McDonalds located on FM 1463 and FM 1093 in regards to a Minor Accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the driver had left the scene and failed to provide information to the driver he had struck. The driver didn’t get far. As he travelled down Flewellen Way in an attempt to get away, a large Oak Tree took it upon itself to intervene and placed itself in the vehicles way causing the driver to crash. The Oak Tree was treated for minor injuries and the driver was arrested on several charges, including Driving While Intoxicated.
A Night Shift officer pulled over a driver travelling at a high rate of speed on Cross Creek Bend Blvd. After pulling the driver over, it was discovered that the driver appeared to be highly intoxicated. After a brief refusal to exit the vehicle, the driver finally complied, and subsequently was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Around 2:00 am, one of your Night Shift officers observed a vehicle on FM 1463 traveling over 70 mph. Your officer quickly attempted to pull the driver over and was successful in doing so before the driver could have seriously injured or killed himself - or others. The driver appeared highly intoxicated and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
One of your officers observed a driver travelling on FM 1463 during the night-time hours without headlights or tail lights. Concerned for the driver’s safety, your officer pulled the driver over. As luck would have it, or bad luck if you were the driver, illegal drugs were discovered along with a pistol. The driver was arrested and charged with Possession and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.
A Night Shift officer observed a driver on FM 1093 at FM 1463 cut across two lanes of traffic and come to a complete stop in a moving lane of traffic. Thinking the driver was lost, your officer attempted to pull behind the vehicle to see if the driver was in need of assistance. The driver suddenly took off as your officer was positioning behind the vehicle. Your officer activated the emergency lights and the driver finally pulled over after quickly travelling a short distance. The driver appeared to be under the influence and subsequently was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Night Shift officers were dispatched to a Family Disturbance. The disturbance had escalated to where an individual displayed a deadly weapon while in the process of committing an assault. This individual was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Family Violence. This individual was also a convicted felon and was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Day Shift officers received a LPR (License Plate Reader) alert in reference to a theft suspect travelling within our city. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. Both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle had several outstanding warrants for their arrest. Between them, they had two felony warrants out of Harris County for Theft, one Felony Theft warrant out of Lake Jackson, and one Evading Arrest warrant out of Harris County. That’s not all folks, let’s continue. They also had a Theft of Property warrant out of Galveston, a Theft of Property warrant out of Angleton, and finally a warrant for Theft out of Brazoria County.
At around 9:50 pm, Night Shift officers received a call to Arbor Park (Cross Creek Ranch) in regards to a disturbance. A basketball game was taking place and “got out of hand.” An argument ensued which led to a physical altercation. After the fight was broken up, one of the individuals went to his vehicle and pulled out a pistol. This individual then fired the pistol (one time) in the air causing his “friends” to flee the area. Officers confiscated the pistol and arrested this individual for Deadly Conduct.
Your officers assisted other law enforcement agencies 73 times. What does this mean? Sometimes if a serious call needs immediate assistance, like a call in progress, medical call or traffic accident falls just outside our city limits, your officers (if close) we will respond and hold the scene until the proper (jurisdiction) law enforcement agency can respond.
Your officers ran 411 Property Watches during this time span. What is a Property Watch? As a free service to the community, your officers will keep an eye on your home for up to two weeks while you are on vacation/out of town. Don’t worry, your officers are instructed not to use your hot tub or pool while you are away. Interested? Here is a link: https://www.fulsheartexas.gov/services/police_department/house_business_watch.php
Your officers ran 70 Alarm calls, both commercial and residential. Thankfully, all of the alarm calls proved to be false. This is a reminder, if you are having an alarm problem on your home or business, please consider having your provider check the alarm for accuracy.
Your officers investigated 28 vehicle accidents. Thankfully, all of them did not involve any serious injuries. Some of these accidents involved property damage.
Your officers were dispatched to nine Animal Calls during this time span. Once again, pesky alligators were involved, but this time none of them were over three feet long. Did you know that alligators can grow up to 15 feet? Most only have four though. (Just seeing if you were still reading this long post.) One of your Night Shift sergeants negotiated with a Cottonmouth after the resident who called us for help asked us not to kill it. The sergeant was successful in his negotiation tactics and was able to remove the snake and send him safely on his way. Aggressive barking dogs were the talk of a neighborhood when they absolutely refused to quiet down and thought it would be fun to break through their fence into the neighbor’s yard. Please, if possible, bring your dogs inside, make proper accommodations or just pay attention to your dog. NO ONE (except cats and squirrels) likes to be awakened by the constant sound of a barking dog, especially when they break through a fence and bark.
It is our hope that these individuals which were arrested, learn from it. We all make mistakes, it’s how we respond to them that defines us.
This may seem like a lot of things are going on in our city. However, we assure you we are still proud to call our city one of the safest in Texas. Our goal is to be transparent in what is happening throughout our community so you can be aware and vigilant. Therefore, we choose to share and highlight what is happening. Unfortunately, with any city this size, we are going to have our share. However, we are confident in our community to help us fight back when needed. Without your help and support, we will all fail. Together is better.
Finally, as fall has arrived, our new Pumpkin Spice scented citations are a huge hit…sort of.
As always, we thank you for your continued support. We have your back and we know you have ours.
