Tesla Robotaxi is now live in Houston — and you can actually request a ride today.

The service launched in April, currently covers a 25-square-mile area, and runs daily from 6am to 2am in Tesla Model Y vehicles.

Webster is quietly becoming one of the most active development corridors in the Houston area.

Flyway, an 80-plus acre destination development along I-45, already has Great Wolf Lodge, Chicken N Pickle, and Vida Mariscos open, with a 12,500-seat amphitheater, a Brazilian steakhouse, IKEA, and Sprouts still on the way.

A staffless, 24/7 golf simulator is opening near The Woodlands on I-45 this September.

No staff, no food service, just book online, show up with your access code, and play. Another Nine offers four private simulator suites at $30 to $40 an hour, and a second location is already in planning for Cypress.

HEB recently filed a replat on 6 acres in Second Ward — and it looks like a new store could potentially be coming to the east side of town.

The filing shows HEB Grocery Company consolidating multiple lots near Canal and Commerce Streets into one large unrestricted reserve, with Kimley-Horn as the engineer of record.

Construction is underway on Ashford Yard, a $40 million mixed-use development on the former Schlumberger campus in west Houston at S. Dairy Ashford and Briar Forest.

The first phase includes 53,000 square feet of retail, a 21,000-square-foot beer garden, and tenants like Produttori Wine Bar, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, and Claw City — already nearly 60% pre-leased with a January completion target.

A 350-unit apartment complex is planned for the adjacent parcel, with groundbreaking targeted for mid-2027.

Houston could soon charge residents a monthly trash fee for the first time ever.

Mayor Whitmire’s proposal starts at $5 a month for the first two years, then gradually increases up to $25 monthly as the city works to fix years of missed pickups, aging trucks, and struggling trash facilities.

The city says the changes could help shrink Houston’s long-term budget deficit from more than $500 million projected by 2031 down to around $172 million — but critics are questioning whether residents will actually see better service if they’re paying more.
