Do you HAVE to fix things before selling your home? Here’s what’s actually mandatory.
A lot of sellers think they need to fully renovate before listing, but that’s not true.
What is required comes down to safety and loan approval.
If a buyer is using financing, especially FHA or VA, certain things can stop the deal — like a leaking roof, exposed wiring, broken HVAC, or anything that’s a safety hazard.
Appraisers will flag issues like missing handrails, peeling paint, or major plumbing and electrical problems.
Cosmetic stuff? Not required.
But anything that affects safety, livability, or financing is where you need to pay attention.
If you’re not sure what in your home could become an issue, I can walk through it with you and show you exactly what matters and what doesn’t.
👉 Quick question: How do you usually approach repairs — would you rather handle them upfront or wait and negotiate them later?
