We’ve opened up walls, tackled structural changes, relocated plumbing and electrical, and started laying the groundwork for a much more functional kitchen and living space. There’s a LOT happening behind the scenes to make it happen. ✨

Some of the biggest transformations happen long before the cabinets, countertops, and final finishes go in.

Some projects change a home. This one changed our hearts. 💜

When we first met Elliot and her family, we knew this garage conversion would be about so much more than creating additional square footage. It was about giving a growing 10-year-old a space designed around her comfort, independence, privacy, and future.

Elliot lives with LAMA2 muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair. Like so many families quickly discover, most homes are simply not designed with wheelchair users in mind. Her parents wanted to change that by creating a space where Elliot could move freely, care for herself more independently, and feel completely at home.

Our team transformed their existing garage into a beautiful, accessibility-focused suite created specifically for her. We raised the garage floor to meet the home’s existing floor level, eliminated difficult transitions, widened the doorways, adjusted the placement of switches and outlets, and installed windows with lower sills so Elliot could enjoy the view from a seated position.

The suite includes a spacious bedroom and living area, a large closet, and a fully accessible bathroom with a wheelchair-friendly vanity, raised-height toilet, grab bars, handheld showerhead, and a large zero-entry tiled shower. We also added plumbing for a possible future kitchenette, allowing the space to continue growing with her needs.

But this room was never meant to feel clinical. It was meant to feel like Elliot.

Elliot is funny, insightful, imaginative, and wonderfully creative. She loves cats, crafts, reading, Minecraft, the color purple, and turning every available cardboard box into her next project. So, of course, her new space got so many design elements chosen by Elliot herself. This suite was built not only for the little girl she is today, but for the confident and independent young woman she is becoming.

To her parents, thank you for trusting Two Chicks Homes with something so personal and important. The love you have poured into giving Elliot both comfort and confidence inside her own home can be felt in every corner of this space.

And Elliot, thank you for letting us become a small part of your village. We hope your new room is always filled with creativity, cat everything, Minecraft adventures, big dreams, and the comfort of knowing this space was created especially for you.

This is more than a garage conversion.

✨ The BEST kind of welcome! 😍❤️

We showed up to the job site and found this waiting for us on the garage door… and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the day! 🥹

It’s the little things like this that make what we do so special. We’re so lucky to have the sweetest clients who not only trust us with their homes, but also know how to make our whole team smile! 🏡💕

And yes… we absolutely took a picture because this was just too cute not to share! 🐕🐶

Our Account Manager, Kris, reached out this week and asked if Lowe’s could do a little filming at our shop, and of course, we said YES!

Lowe’s is a big part of what keeps our projects moving. We truly couldn’t imagine running Two Chicks Homes without their support, or without Kris always looking out for us.
