i got my real estate license in the middle of my master’s program. january. licensed by july. graduated that december.

not a career pivot — a decision i made for myself, maybe for the first time in a while.

i’d rather battle the humidity if this gets to be my backyard.

the tradeoffs are real, but so is the love for living here.

every place has its thing. ours is the heat, the humidity, the summer that doesn’t quit. the reason so many of us stay anyway:

📍 the kind of quiet that actually quiets you down… a porch swing under an oak tree will do that

📍 neighbors who show up for you — not in theory, but actually

📍 a pace of life you didn’t know you were missing until you found it

a good realtor helps you buy a house. a great one makes sure it’s actually the right one. 💯

and yeah — there’s a difference.

when you’re new to buying or selling, it’s easy to assume every agent is basically doing the same job… show you homes, write the offer, hand over the keys. done.

but the way an agent does that job is everything.

the best ones treat your move like it’s their own. they figure out how you actually live — not just what boxes you want to check. they slow you down when you need to be slowed down. and they’re still around long after the boxes are unpacked.

i’ve also been known to talk you out of something. and i will not apologize for it. 😅

that’s the kind of agent worth holding out for — and honestly? the only kind i know how to be.

the information isn’t the hard part anymore.

everyone has access to zillow. everyone can run comps. AI can pull data faster than any agent alive.

but i’ve never seen an algorithm read a seller’s body language across the kitchen table.

i’ve never seen AI call a listing agent and find out why a home’s been sitting for 60 days — or what it would actually take to make the seller move.

i’ve never seen a search filter uncover an off-market option because i know the agents in this market.

the data is the easy part. knowing what to do with it… that’s the job.
