I moved to the greater Palm Springs area in August I thought I was going to die. š„š
I came from Washington state and had no idea what I was walking into. For my first two summers I questioned every decision that led me here.
Hereās what I know now after almost a decade in this valley:
You will acclimate. Itās not just something people say ā it genuinely happens.
But let me give you the honest breakdown of what desert summers actually look like, month by month, no sales pitch.
May, June, early July: dry heat, very manageable if you structure your day right.
Late July and August: these are the six weeks Iāll be real about. More moisture, thicker air, hot nights. This is the hardest stretch.
September: nights start to cool. You feel the shift and itās glorious.
October through April: this is paradise. And it makes everything else worth it.
Save this if youāve been nervous about desert summers.
