The mirror glued to your bathroom wall is a v***r barrier. There's mold behind it.

In the hot humid South you do not want a v***r barrier anywhere on the inside of the house. On the outside, fine — a zero-perm product like Polyguard belongs there.

Inside, anything that stops moisture also traps it. We've watched Austin remodels where a mirror masticed to an exterior wall was the only thing between drywall and a mold colony.

Same goes for vinyl wallpaper. Same physics.

Those return vents? There's no duct behind them. On purpose.

Spray foam the attic and it joins the conditioned envelope — attic and living space become one temperature, one humidity.

So the return boxes get grilles and no ductwork. Air moves through the pathway instead of a tube. Whole-house return, no duct runs.

Then a dehumidifier holds 50-55% relative humidity, set and forget. Which means the thermostat can sit at 78, even 80, and still feel good — because it's the moisture that makes 74 feel miserable, not the temperature.

A return grille connected to nothing — does that make you nervous or does it make sense? And would you run an unvented attic in this climate?
