🏠 MISTAKES I MADE AS A FIRST TIME HOME BUYER 🏠
Many years ago, before real estate was even on my radar, my husband and I were first time homebuyers. We were submitting our very first offer ever on a home; a home we absolutely LOVED, only to have it slip away just because of some avoidable mistakes. So here they are:
First off, while the asking price was already fair, we offered just below asking price. And there were also other offers on the table. And it was a seller’s market 🤦🏻♀️.
Secondly, we asked for too many concessions. From closing costs to some of the seller’s furniture, not so awesome on top of that lower offered purchase price.
Needless to say, our offer was not accepted.
Moral of the story, read the room, or “read the market”. Know your place in the current market in order to formulate the strongest offer you can make. Most of all, have an amazing real estate agent by your side that will guide you as you’ll have to make these important decisions. You can count on me to be that amazing agent 😉.
Does this story sound familiar? What mistakes have you made that you’ll never do again?
