Are we ever going to see low interest rates again?? Let’s take a look back in history.
We’ve had rates as high as 16.64% in 1981 and as low as 2.96% in 2021. Check out each slide for the highest and lowest interest rates of each decade!
Overall, the pattern shows an elevated interest rate as the “norm”, but I think a big difference between back then and now is that home prices are high now. Combining high home prices with a high interest rate, makes it extremely difficult for the everyday person to purchase a home today. But don’t lose hope! There are opportunities for rate buydowns and other seller concessions that can help the buyer.
