Meet Leonardo, one of our seven tiny Ninja Turtles. He is incredibly precious, sweet, and all he wants is to curl up in your lap. But right now, this little fighter is struggling — and honestly, so are we.
When we first noticed Leonardo, he was tucked away in the corner of the crate, not thriving like the rest of his siblings. He didn’t want to eat, he felt cold, and something just wasn’t right. We pulled him out immediately, began feeding him separately, and kept him warm. We hoped extra care and warmth would help him turn a corner.
Unfortunately, things became much more serious.
On Saturday, we rushed Leonardo to Knoxville for an emergency visit. The estimated treatment costs ranged from $4,200 to $7,200 — an overwhelming amount for anyone. Like many rescues, we simply do not have that kind of funding readily available. With guidance, we chose to bring him home and continue treatment ourselves. We started probiotics and provided supportive care around the clock.
We knew the very best thing for him would be mother’s milk. Since his mom had run out, we carefully introduced him to another nursing mama who thankfully accepted him. While this helped, it still wasn’t enough.
Last night, Leonardo’s breathing became noticeably heavier. We rushed him to emergency care again, where he was placed on oxygen. Once more, the costs were far beyond what we can manage, so we brought him home to continue doing everything we possibly can for him.
Right now, Leonardo is fighting. He is slowly eating from a syringe, moving more, and showing us that he is not ready to give up. But his condition remains fragile, and the medical expenses from two emergency visits are devastating for our rescue.
We are humbly asking for help.
Emergency veterinary care is incredibly expensive, and Leonardo’s bills have quickly added up. Any donation — no matter the size — would go directly toward covering his emergency vet costs and helping us continue his care.
We are also going through a large number of glass baby food jars and feeding supplies. Donations of materials are just as appreciated as financial support.
Leonardo is a fighter, but he cannot do this alone.
If you are able to help in any way — through donations, supplies, or even sharing his story — we would be deeply grateful.
Thank you for caring about this tiny life.
