I’ve been in a period of self reflection lately. Not on purpose. A memory popped on on FB today that reminded me why I quit doing design work. I haven’t drawn a thing in years. These are the last things I was working on. I still don’t want to draw for $$$ ... Should I still be trying to create like this if there’s no end goal? Yes? No?

It’s easy to get lost out here. Physically and mentally. I’m not really scared of being either of those things. Not any more. I welcome being lost because it allows me to see what hasn’t been discovered. Being lost means finding alternate routes to the destination or not finding the destination at all. I’d rather take the road less traveled and risk never finding the destination if it means revealing what most people miss. Physically and mentally. But having good GPS is dope too.

Let me preface this by saying I’m more of a dog person. All I could think about while I was gone was getting back to this face. We’ve been inseparable for almost 14 years. If emotional support animals are a real thing then this would be an example of that. I think she needs me as much as I need her. Ok. I’m a sap. Just glad to be home with my main chick. 6/365

I haven’t been sleeping well here. It’s too quiet. No sirens. No neighbors yelling at each other. No cats fighting in the middle of the night. I can hear coyotes howling and tonight a cougar reminded us that humans don’t come around here often. The house is amazing but the vibe is terrifying for someone who has been raised around 12in subwoofers, reckless teen drivers, drunk drivers and the occasional shooting. Why does silence make me feel so insecure? Also, we are probably 7 miles from a single streetlight. It’s so dark out here that the Milky Way surrounding our planet is visible to the naked eye. I say this all just to say I’m homesick. I’m ready to sleep again. I’m ready to feel safe and sound amongst the noise. Day 4/365
