A little behind-the-scenes reminder from your friendly neighborhood business owner...
I own Christina & Co to the Rescue, but I also work at Christina & Co. Every. Single. Day.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to hire people to answer the office phone, check emails, help with scheduling, and handle some of the logistics that keep us moving. I have an amazing team, and I absolutely could not do what we do without them.
But hiring help didn’t mean I stopped working *in* the business.
What my work looks like changes almost every day. Some days I’m packing boxes or unpacking a new home. Some days I’m knee-deep in an estate sale, researching, pricing, staging, and moving things around. I’m meeting with clients, doing consultations, coordinating vendors, solving problems, writing estimates, managing employees, handling marketing and social media, paying bills, working on contracts, and doing the hundred other behind-the-scenes things it takes to keep a small business running.
And somewhere in there, I’m also trying to communicate with everyone. Phone calls. Text messages. Emails. Facebook messages. Instagram messages. TikTok. WhatsApp. Website inquiries. Comments on posts. Messages on my personal Facebook because someone couldn't reach me elsewhere. Lordy, it's A LOT, even for an entire team.
The reality is that I simply cannot be everywhere at once, and I can't personally talk to every client every single day. I wish I could. There just aren't enough hours in the day.
So sometimes you may get a text from me instead of a phone call because I can answer you between appointments. Sometimes you may get an email from me at 10:00 at night because that's when I finally sat down and opened my laptop. Sometimes one of my team members will be the one who answers your question or coordinates something for you because I'm standing in someone's kitchen, wrapping dishes, or meeting with a family who needs me.
None of those things mean your project isn't important to me.
One of the things I've always wanted Christina & Co. to be is personal. I never want our clients to feel like they're just another number or another job on the calendar. But as we've grown, I've also had to learn that providing good service doesn't mean I have to do every single thing myself.
It means building a team I trust. It means creating systems. It means letting other people help me so I can continue doing the work that our clients hired Christina & Co. to do in the first place.
I'm still here. I'm still involved. I'm still working right alongside my team. I'm probably just doing it with a phone in one hand, a roll of packing tape in the other, and 417 things running through my brain. 😂
So if you've gotten the late-night email, a quick text instead of a call, or a response from someone on my team instead of directly from me, please know that we're not ignoring you. We're just doing our jobs. And I promise we're doing our best to take good care of you while we do it.
