Happy 13th Birthday to my beautiful daughter Julia. I truly cannot believe my little girl is already 13 years old today.

Watching you grow into such a smart, kind, strong and beautiful young lady has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. You make me and Momma K proud every single day, and I can’t wait to see all the incredible things your future holds.

Last week was a great milestone as we celebrated the topping out of the Northland Workforce Development Center. Seeing the final beam go into place really puts into perspective how much progress has been made and how close this incredible project is to becoming a reality.

As a board member and strong supporter of this effort, I’m extremely proud of what this center will mean for the Northland and the entire Kansas City region. This facility will connect students directly with real career opportunities and help address the workforce needs we hear about every day from employers across our community.

Projects like this don’t happen overnight. It takes years of planning, partnerships, dedicated/caring elected originals and people willing to step up and invest in the future of our kids and our workforce.

I look forward to the day when students walk through these doors and start building careers right here in Kansas City.
