🍂 October arrives in Sevier County this week, and the calendar gets busy fast.
Here’s some of what you’ll want to know for September 28 through October 4:
🚧 Daytime lane closures are scheduled on the Gatlinburg Spur Monday through Thursday.
🚗 Thursday could bring extra traffic around Walters State, Old Newport Highway and Pittman Center Road for the Sevier County Schools cross-country event.
🍎 The Apple Barn kicks off its 50th-anniversary Apple Festival Friday.
🎃 Oktoberfest begins at Ober Mountain, Dollywood’s Harvest Festival and Great Pumpkin LumiNights continue, and several other fall events get underway.
🎶 The National Quartet Convention continues through Saturday in Pigeon Forge.
🏞️ There are several important Smokies updates this week, including Abrams Falls Trail work, other trail closures, bear-related restrictions and the end of Cades Cove’s vehicle-free Wednesdays for the season.
💗 We also look back at Sevier County’s first official Dolly Parton Day, including why September 25 was chosen. Yes, we settle the “9 to 5” math once and for all. 😄
