Here's the two of the most unique monuments I've found in a while. The upside down rail has an x chiseled into it. I went back for a closer look at the rusty rail and just couldn't make out any x's or punch marks. I'll have to clean it with a wire brush when I go to finish the job. The one with pink ribbon tied to the pipe should be captioned "Persistence". I first found the broken t-post (left foreground), then the broken chain link post (rear right), and finally the 3/4" pipe (pink ribbon).

Making the most of the pretty weather on last Thursday. I spent the last couple of hours of daylight setting new corners on a 13 acre farm. The last pin got set after the sun was gone and Venus and a crescent moon were putting on a light show for me while the R12 crunched the last position in the foreground.

Candidate will be required to demonstrate strong surveying fundamentals, management, organizational, and communication skills while working solo or running a field crew for various types of surveying assignments.

Position requires knowledge of surveying techniques including: GPS surveying including static, fast static, RTK, and VRS; utilization of robotic total stations; utilization of other conventional surveying equipment.

Must be reliable and motivated.

Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record, and dependable transportation.

Must be able to lift and carry loads in excess of 40 lbs.

Strong calculation abilities and CAD skills are a must.

Experience with Trimble robotic total stations, Trimble Access data collection software, Trimble Business Center, and (AutoCAD/IntelliCAD with Carlson Survey preferred.

Most work is in Knox and surrounding counties.

Work hours: 8-5 Monday thru Friday (overtime opportunities exist)

Interesting project from a few years ago. I eat at this restaurant from time to time and it amuses me that the rest of the patrons likely don't have any idea that this is under their feet as they walk through the parking lot. This is an underground storm-water detention facility that catches all of the runoff from the development and lets it slowly drain out over time so that sudden storms don't overwhelm the nearby creek.

While working late to make up for a day mostly lost to rain, I snapped these while measuring a boat dock.
