That’s right, only TWO new houses in Lexington were built, marketed, and sold in 2024 for less than $250,000. This does not include houses built by Habitat for Humanity which only serves internal clients.

This is the primary reason home prices are rising so significantly. Demand for houses in Lexington remains increasingly robust with no expectations of receding and new additions to the supply of houses are too few. New houses have been built at a rate of only about 500 per year for the past 15 years. New builds are no longer close to what most of us would consider starter homes—the median sale price for new construction is $430,000.
