Tennessee Land Development is seeking a field crew member. No prior experience is necessary; we are committed to providing training and fostering your professional growth.
This is an outdoor position with very little “public” interaction. It is not an exceptionally physically taxing job, but it does require lots of walking, climbing hills, and plowing through brush or scrambling over fallen trees. This is East Tennessee, and the weather can be pretty hot or cold. We work in most, so this job isn’t for those requiring constant heat or AC. We don’t work in the rain or if there is snow on the ground.
The crews typically work Monday through Thursday with an occasional Friday. We don’t do weekends. The day starts at about 8 am and typically ends by 4 pm. We pay by the day and not by the hour. The crews are given jobs to complete each day; if they get them done quickly, it becomes an early day. The pay is the same if it takes 6 hours to complete or 10 hours to finish. It all balances out over time, but it seems the days average about 7 hours.
Specifics:
We are based in Sevierville (east end, out of the tourist areas).
Pay starts at $150 per day (for the probation period – typically 2 weeks or 8 working days). After the probation period, the pay goes up to $160 per day. Based on an 8-hour day, this is $18.75 and $20.00 per hour, respectively. (pay of our current employees ranges from $160 - $220 per day)
There are 4 paid holidays per year and 2 weeks of paid vacation (accrued over the year).
Medical/Dental/Vision insurance is available.
We are an equal-opportunity employer. We are a small company, and workplace harmony is as important as the ability to do the work.
