Following high school, he completed his mandatory national service in the South African Army and was awarded a Pro Patria medal for 18-month service in the Namibian/Angolan war. While vacationing in the USA after the army, he received a full scholarship to be a field-goal kicker for the University of Oregon Ducks football team and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science degree. n met and married Maui native, Michelle Wilmore, moved to Maui in 1989 and has had an amazing 30-year journey. Dean and Michelle are proud parents of two incredible children, Troy (27) and Cassidy (22). Dean has always been involved in the Maui community. Initially as a volunteer AYSO soccer coach and referee, and more recently as a Founding Member of Maui Preparatory Academy and 8-year President of the Board of Trustees. His philanthropic contributions to supporting kids and this critical community enhancement total over $500,000. Dean’s real estate career began in Kapalua, Maui in 1989 and he has been in a leadership position as a Principal Broker or Broker-in-Charge since 1995. He is a West Maui Specialist, which includes the Kapalua and Kaanapali resorts, with 30 years' experience as a top producer and ranked as one of the Top 100 Realtors in Hawaii by Hawaii Business Magazine for 8 years. His move to Keller Williams Realty Maui in 2016 has been a great success. In 2021 he was ranked #18 Keller Williams Individual Agent out of 185,000 agents worldwide.
