💰Florida Homeowners: Don’t Miss This Tax-Saving Benefit 💰

Thinking about selling your Florida home and buying another one?

Before you move, make sure you understand homestead portability.

If you currently have a Florida homestead exemption, you may have built up a Save Our Homes benefit. In some cases, you may be able to transfer, or “port,” that benefit to your next Florida homestead.

That could help lower the assessed value of your new home and potentially save you thousands on your property taxes.

The portability amount can be up to $500,000, and the filing deadline is typically March 1.

Here in Seminole County, the Property Appraiser’s website even has a portability calculator you can use to estimate how much it may help you.

Every situation is different, so always speak with your county property appraiser or CPA.
