Leadership reflection today...

I think one of the biggest traps for high performers is confusing pressure with purpose.

Because pressure feels important.

It feels urgent.

It feels productive.

And sometimes it can make us feel needed.

But I've learned that being needed and being aligned are very different things.

Some of the most stressful seasons of my life weren't necessarily my most purposeful.

They were simply the seasons with the most pressure.

Leadership maturity has taught me to ask a different question.

Not:

"How much pressure am I carrying?"

But:

"Am I aligned with what I'm supposed to be doing?"

I'm curious about you..

๐Ÿ‘‰ Do you think most leaders struggle more with saying yes to too many things or letting go of the wrong things?

Leadership reflection today...

I think a lot of spiritually dry leaders misdiagnose the problem.

They assume they're far from God.

But what if they're just overwhelmed?

Too much input.

Too much pressure.

Too much noise.

Too many voices competing for attention.

I've learned that some of the seasons where I felt the most disconnected weren't seasons of rebellion.

They were seasons of overload.

There wasn't enough margin.

There wasn't enough quiet.

There wasn't enough space to listen.

And I've come to believe that when we remove all the stillness from our lives, we remove one of the primary environments where God speaks clearly.

So....

Do you think spiritual dryness is more often caused by distance from God or distraction from God?

Leadership reflection today...

One of the biggest leadership shifts in my life didn't improve my business first.

It improved my marriage.

For a long time, I thought leadership was mostly about results.

Making decisions.

Creating momentum.

Building something meaningful.

But eventually I realized something...

The people closest to us feel our misalignment before anyone else.

Our spouse feels it.

Our kids feel it.

Our family feels it.

And when I started leading from more peace, more clarity, and more presence, the first place I noticed a difference wasn't in business.

It was at home.

I've come to believe that one of the greatest tests of leadership isn't how we show up in public.

It's how we show up for the people closest to us.

Curious...

๐Ÿ‘‰ Do you think success at home and success in business are more connected than most people realize?

Leadership reflection today...

One of the biggest mistakes ambitious people make is assuming every open door should be walked through.

I've certainly made that mistake.

Because opportunities can feel exciting.

They create momentum.

They create validation.

They make us feel like we're moving forward.

But I've learned that not every opportunity is an assignment.

Sometimes the best decision isn't asking:

"Can I do this?"

It's asking:

"Should I do this?"

Because some open doors move us closer to our purpose.

Others simply distract us from it.

I've found that rebuilding seasons require a different skill than hustle.

They require discernment.

How about you?

๐Ÿ‘‰ What's harder for you: saying no to a good opportunity or finding the right opportunity? And have you ever said yes to something that looked right at the time but later realized it was a distraction?

Leadership reflection today:
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to feel important when everyone needs something from you?

Clients need answers.

Team members need support.

Family members need attention.

Friends need help.

For a while, being needed feels meaningful.

But I've learned something over time...

Being needed by everyone often means you're not fully present anywhere.

And presence may be one of the most undervalued leadership skills there is.

I've found that some of the most important moments in leadership, marriage, business, and faith happen when we're fully engaged with what's right in front of us.

Not distracted by everything else.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What's harder for you: saying no or staying present?

Leadership reflection today...

One of the biggest leadership lessons I've learned is that people feel your presence before they hear your words.

When a leader walks into a room carrying stress, pressure, frustration, or anxiety...

everyone notices.

Maybe not consciously.

But they feel it.

Clients feel it.

Teams feel it.

Families feel it.

The opposite is true too.

Calm is contagious.

Steadiness is contagious.

Confidence is contagious.

I've become increasingly convinced that leadership is less about what we say and more about what we carry into the room.

Curious...

๐Ÿ‘‰ When you think about the best leaders you've worked with, what did people feel around them?

Leadership reflection today...

One of the hardest lessons I've learned is that not every slowdown is a setback.

Sometimes it's protection.

For years I believed that speed was a sign of progress.

Move faster.
Do more.
Push harder.

But eventually I realized something...

Sometimes God interrupts our pace because our pace is interrupting our peace.

And when I look back, many of the seasons I resisted most were actually protecting things that mattered deeply:

My health.
My relationships.
My clarity.
My faith.

I've learned that some things simply can't be rebuilt at full speed.

Curious...

๐Ÿ‘‰ Have you ever experienced a season that felt like a setback at the time but later looked like protection?

Leadership reflection today...

One of the most expensive mistakes leaders make is treating rest like a luxury instead of a responsibility.

I used to think the answer to pressure was working harder.

More effort.

More hours.

More hustle.

But eventually I realized something...

Rest is where clarity lives.

Rest is where patience lives.

Rest is where emotional control lives.

And when leaders remove rest from their lives, they start making expensive decisions.

Small issues feel huge.

People feel heavier.

Everything becomes more reactive.

I've learned that leadership without rest isn't strength.

It's often just delayed consequences.

Curious about your perspective.. you think most leaders struggle more with discipline or rest?

06/08/2026

Leadership reflection today...

One of the biggest lies leaders tell themselves is:

"I'm just being careful."

Sometimes that's true.

But sometimes it's not.

Sometimes we're overthinking.

And overthinking feels responsible.

It feels wise.

It feels like we're doing the right thing.

But in reality, it can become fear disguised as preparation.

I've learned that some of the biggest decisions in my life weren't made when I had complete certainty.

They were made when I had enough conviction to take the next step.

Not the entire staircase.

Just the next step.

So... Do you think most leaders struggle more with acting too quickly or waiting too long?

Leadership reflection today...

I think one of the biggest mistakes leaders make during a rebuilding season is trying to get back to who they used to be.

Back to the old results.
Back to the old momentum.
Back to the old version of themselves.

But what if the old version isn't the answer?

What if the very mindset that helped you survive a previous season is now limiting your growth?

I've seen this in my own life.

Urgency.
Control.
Overcommitment.
Running on adrenaline.

Those things helped me build.

But eventually they became liabilities.

That's why I've started asking a different question.

Not:

"How do I get back?"

But:

"Who do I need to become now?"

Curious...

๐Ÿ‘‰ Have you ever had to let go of an old version of yourself in order to grow into a new season?
