Waiting for lower rates sounds smart. The reality is rates have already eased and are sitting near the lowest levels we have seen in the past year. I wish I had a crystal ball to predict exactly where they will go, yet a return to 3% mortgages in the near future is not very likely.

Could it happen someday? Possibly. However, it is not something buyers can realistically plan around today. Most economists believe a more typical range over the next several years will be about 5.5% to 6.5%. This is exactly why many buyers use a common strategy now: Buy the right home now and refinance later if rates improve.
