Every time you turn on a light, charge your phone, or stream a movie, you're using energy.
But before that energy can reach you...
Something has to come first.
Land.
Before we can build solar farms, power stations, EV charging infrastructure, or AI data centers, we need the right land to build them on.
That's one of the reasons I pay attention to the demand for land.
Danielle Russo, Executive Director of the Center for Grid Security at SAFE, said:
"Energy is about 7% of the GDP, but it's the first 7%. It's the foundation that everything else depends on."
That idea has stuck with me. Why? What’s my takeaway?
Because land is where that foundation begins.
Without land, we can't build the infrastructure that powers our homes, businesses, and communities.
And this is why I believe strategic land banking is worth understanding.
It's not about buying land simply because it's available.
It's about recognizing where future growth is most likely to happen, and positioning yourself before that growth becomes obvious.
The biggest opportunities often begin long before the first building goes up.
