🎰✨ VEGAS FUN FACT #3: A HOTEL THAT HELPED CHANGE LAS VEGAS HISTORY!

Las Vegas is famous for making history—but this story goes far beyond casinos and neon lights.

On May 24, 1955, the Moulin Rouge Hotel and Casino opened in Las Vegas’ Historic Westside. It was the city’s first racially integrated hotel-casino and was promoted at the time as the nation’s first major in*******al hotel.

Even more surprising? The Moulin Rouge closed only months later, but its impact continued.

In 1960, the property became the meeting place for the historic Moulin Rouge Agreement. Casino owners, government officials, NAACP representatives and Black community leaders met there, leading to an agreement to desegregate Las Vegas public accommodations and casinos.

So beneath all those famous Vegas lights is a city with some fascinating—and important—history. 🌟

Here’s something that may surprise even longtime locals: Las Vegas is one of the most water-efficient major cities in America.

About 99% of the water used indoors in the Las Vegas Valley is recycled! Water from showers, sinks, washing machines and other indoor uses is treated at local facilities and returned to Lake Mead, where it can be used again. ♻️💦

And here’s the really clever part: Southern Nevada receives return-flow credits for that treated water, meaning indoor water can essentially be reused again and again.

That’s especially important when you consider that Las Vegas welcomes millions of visitors while sitting right in the middle of the Mojave Desert. 🌵
