Just because a home is listed for sale... does that mean you can record inside it?
This is a question I don't think enough real estate professionals ask.
You're showing another agent's listing and think, "This kitchen is gorgeous! I'll take a quick video and post it to my social media."
But should you?
A listed home is still someone's private property. Family photos, children's belongings, medications, security systems, valuables, and personal items may all be visible in the background.
While there are legal considerations surrounding recording in Montana, there's an even bigger question...
Is it the professional thing to do?
As REALTORS®, we're entrusted with our clients' homes. That trust doesn't end because the home is on the market.
Before recording or posting content from someone else's listing, ask yourself:
✔️ Do I have permission?
✔️ Would the seller be comfortable with this?
✔️ Would I want someone doing this in my home?
Sometimes the best business decision isn't about what you can do—it's about what you should do
What's your opinion? Should agents ever record and post another agent's listing without the seller's and listing broker's permission?
