Our Story
Have you ever been so passionate about something that you can’t stop learning, growing, improving, and doing it? Well, that is how my story begins. I started in real estate as an investor owning several homes over the years. As an investor, negotiating the purchase of price of a property is paramount to being successful. It is said, “You make your money on real estate when you buy it, not when you sell it”. So I got good at buying real estate.
After leaving the military in 1995, I was offered a position as a mortgage loan officer. It’s funny, but I had a co-worker who had been a professional baseball player and was the office's top producer. In my first few months as a mortgage professional, he called me the rookie. I kind of like the nickname, but it didn’t last long. Within 6 months, my production exceeded his and he was asking me how I was so successful. I told him, “By having a sincere interest in helping people without regard to personal benefit.” I can’t tell you how many people showed their gratitude by referring their friends to me.
It wasn’t long before I was identified as a potential leader and was promoted to my first management position. I took over a struggling office and brought them from the bottom of the market to the top 3 and number one in luxury home financing. Long story short I had a long and successful career. Working my way up from managing an office to managing the state of Texas. Although I enjoyed training, coaching, and molding young mortgage professionals and managers, I missed working directly with clients.
The story continues as it began. I changed my career and became a real estate professional. I was again a “Rookie”, but I liked the idea of it. After all, I had the opportunity to learn something new and I took advantage of it. I searched out the best in the industry and found a mentor that I modeled my business after. I invested in the best education available and received 4 professional designations in my first two years. It wasn’t was long before I went from the “Rookie” to the guy everyone asks, “How are you so successful.”
