The New York Jets have officially given head coach Robert Saleh the boot after just three seasons, and let me tell you, it sounds like he’s been tossed out of the proverbial penthouse and into the cold New Jersey streets. In a statement that could have doubled as a breakup text, owner Woody Johnson announced they’re ready to “move in a different direction,” which is code for “we need to freshen things up faster than you can say ‘quarterback controversy.’”

Poor Saleh, who thought he was settling down in the New York area, was apparently blindsided by the news. ESPN’s Jay Glazer reported that the poor guy found out he was getting fired right before the announcement went public—talk about being hit with a moving truck of disappointment! Now, he’s left to ponder his next steps while defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich steps in as the interim head coach.

After two decades of moving from Houston to Seattle, Jacksonville, and San Francisco, one has to wonder: does Saleh have any more moving boxes left? The coaching carousel is no joke, and just when you think you’ve finally unpacked, here comes another team offering you a new gig—and a new address. If only finding a good real estate agent was as easy as finding a new coaching job!
