According to Freddie Mac as of September 24, 2026 the average rate for a 30-year fixed rate, conventional mortgage is at 7.03%.

In 1990 rates were at: 10.13%, in 2000 rates were at 8.05% and in 2025 rates were 6.60%. Some experts predict that mortgage rates are expected to hover near or slightly above 7% through the end of 2026.
