Where you live can shape your daily routines, your commute, your weekends — and even how you feel pulling into the driveway at the end of the day.

It can also impact your long-term resale potential and whether the home continues to fit your lifestyle over time.

🎢 If you've felt like the last few years in real estate have been a roller coaster, I wouldn't disagree!

We had unprecedented activity in the market during the pandemic, where people were moving all over and getting into bidding wars to pay top dollar for homes.

Then, we had mortgage rates nearly double or more, and much of the buyer activity slowed down.

Now, at the end of 2024, we're seeing signs that could be good news for buyers.

🏡 First, there are more homes to choose from!

Inventory is up to the highest level in 5 years, according to the senior economic research analyst at Realtor.com.

More inventory means buyers have more opportunities to find the right home for their needs. And they are less likely to get into competitive bidding wars because of a lack of homes.

🗝️ This increase in inventory is also leading to price reductions in listed homes.

Sellers might also be offering other incentives to attract buyers to their homes.

⏰ And lastly, buyers have more time.

At the height of the market, many buyers were putting in offers sight-unseen and waiving contingencies.

Now, buyers don't have that extreme rush. So, there's more time to look at homes and feel less pressured into making a rushed decision.

While this is all good news for buyers, sellers aren't left out in the cold in today's market.

📈 Over the last few years, many homes have appreciated in value, so sellers can cash in on an increase in equity.
