Meadowcreek Neighborhood Association is hosting their annual FALL FESTIVAL at Hartland Hills on Saturday, October 17th from 2-4pm. Family and friends of our residents and staff are invited to attend. There will be games, a pizza truck, vendors, pumpkins to paint, and more. Lisa Michelle and Jaydee Miller will provide music for everyone's enjoyment. During their intermission, our very own Larry Young will perform a couple of songs! Come and enjoy the fun!!! If you are willing to volunteer to help in any way, please call Sarah (Activities Director) at 859-273-1212. We need some extra hands. :)

Pumpkin Volleyball... Today we drew jack-o-lantern faces on our orange balloons. The smiles on the resident faces far exceeded those on our balloons though!

Yesterday we had a Harvest Tasting Table - serving up all things autumn! We enjoyed pumpkin roll, pumpkin spice latte bar cake, cinnamon swirl bread, apple fritter donut bites, sea salt caramel cookies, candy corn, apple slices, warm caramel dip, pumpkin fluff with cinnamon graham crackers, pumpkin cheerios, and hot apple c***r. Brandon (one of our CareTender partners) even made us funnel cakes! It was a 'sweet' time of celebrating FALL! 🍂🍁🎃

We tried something new and loved it! Hartland Hills had its first SOUND BATH. And, yes, everyone was fully clothed. 😜 Look at these peaceful people. Lights out, blinds closed, cool temperature, and soothing sounds. Wow. You gotta try this!

Meet Ben and Nellie; they are just the cutest couple! Nellie went to visit her son out of town for a couple of weeks and Ben wandered around gushing about how wonderful she is the whole time. He missed her terribly while she was gone, but they are back together again and everything is right in the world. 💖 They were just sitting there holding hands (NOT prompted) and I simply couldn't resist snapping this photo of them! 😍

🎉 Happy 100th birthday, Marguerite! Holiday Willow Groveve] celebrated a remarkable milestone for Marguerite, whose life story spans continents and now a century.

Born in Panama, Marguerite went on to build a career as a purchasing agent for United Aircraft, where she led a team of 30 people. Her advice for leaders is simple: “Listen to people.”

Today, Marguerite spends her evenings enjoying dinner, activities, bingo and plenty of time with her neighbors. When asked what she’s most proud of, her answer is just as simple: “My children.”

It's been awhile since these guys have gone fishing, but they haven't lost their touch! 🎣🐟

We enjoyed fishing from the second floor into our atrium "pond". It wasn't easy, but like the good fishermen they are, they had patience, waited for the bite, set the hook, and celebrated (and perhaps exaggerated) their catch. 😂

"I want to live here forever," says Arlene, a self-proclaimed newbie to Holiday Simi Hills.
"It's so friendly here. In the elevator, someone will say, 'oh, are you new?' – and introduce themselves and start talking." Arlene is living at Holiday Simi Hills to be closer to her daughter and to help out with her granddaughter. The plan was to live in the community for a year and then head back to her house on the coast. But things might change, according to Arlene.

"I hope the man who's renting my place for a year wants to stay longer, or even buy it. This is like being on a cruise. You go to your cabin, you eat in the dining room and you have activities – the only thing you're missing is the water."

Grandparents' Day was stuffed with love! 🧸

Leading up to the celebration, grandchildren dropped off their favorite “stuffies” to stay with residents for the week. The stuffed friends joined in on fitness classes, book clubs and even community outings – and we captured it all in photos to share with their grandchildren.

On Grandparents' Day itself, families reunited for a bingo bash, picked up their stuffies and keepsake photo booklets, and enjoyed a chicken nugget and popsicle bar together.

It was a celebration of the love, laughter and the impact grandparents have on their families.

We raised our pom-poms and cheered loudly at our Great Tailgate Social Series event! 📣

Communities brought the ultimate game day vibes as residents gathered to enjoy tailgate classics, including walking nachos and dirty soda bars.

“I don’t give up," shares Nancy, who has taken the step challenge at Holiday Maple Suites very seriously.

Nancy beat the record, walking every day for 125 days, helping the community hit ten million steps since March! Her motivation to keep going was more than just her competitive spirit. "I look forward to every step, and every little step helps me."

After recovering from an illness, she knew she had to be dedicated to reach her goal. "These steps are helping, and I am not quitting. I'm getting my daily movement in and enjoying it!

Great work, Nancy; keep it up!

"I like people," shares Vonnie, a resident at Holiday Bridge Park, who has always had a gift for bringing people together.

From working at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair to spending more than three decades in the restaurant industry, Vonnie has always loved meeting people and making connections. Today she brings that same warmth and enthusiasm to community life – enjoying exercise classes, bingo, reading and getting to know her neighbors.

She especially loves the community’s library and the many opportunities to get out and explore together. “I’m not bashful about mixing in or talking to people,” she adds.

We’re grateful to have Vonnie’s energy, humor and love of people at Bridge Park! ❤️

For nearly 18 years, Janie has lived at Holiday Willow Grove – in fact, she was one of the very first residents to call it home.

Over the years, she’s joined picnics, bus rides, meetings and countless activities, watched team members grow into new roles and witnessed the community become part of so many chapters of life. One thing hasn’t changed: Janie still wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.

“I'm still comfortable here. I wouldn't move somewhere else, even if I could.”

Today, Janie especially treasures breakfast with her neighbors and the church services and Bible study that have been part of the community since the beginning.

After nearly two decades, her perspective says it best: “I can count on the people here.”

Surf’s up! We enjoyed fresh beachy bites at our Taste of SoCal events.

We enjoyed French onion dip served with Ruffles potato chips, followed by California Cobb salad served with a whole wheat roll and Dole Whip for dessert!

To top it off, we watched a modern Hollywood classic, La La Land!

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

Our men got to do some "pond" fishing for Father's Day! Ed M. ended up on top of the leaderboard and received his prize - a catch and release cap! We have the best guys in town, and it was a joy to celebrate them. :)
