Not an everyday crawl space find!

While performing an inspection today, our specialist Tim came across something we’ve never documented before in over a decade of business—an Eastern Newt.

We’ve encountered frogs in wet crawl spaces from time to time, but this is the first newt we’ve ever found under a home. These amphibians prefer cool, damp environments, so a moist crawl space can occasionally provide suitable habitat.

Wildlife has a way of surprising us, even after all these years. Every day in the field brings something new!

Have you ever found an unexpected visitor under your home? 🦎

A recent chimney fire left this home’s old chimney cap severely damaged—hot enough to warp and partially melt the metal.

Today, we removed the failed cap and installed a custom-fabricated copper chimney cap built to protect the flue while complementing the character of the home. The result is a significant upgrade in both function and appearance.

Chimney caps do much more than keep wildlife out. They also help protect the chimney system from weather, debris, and unwanted animal activity. If your chimney cap is rusted, damaged, or missing altogether, it may be time for a closer look.

A successful maternal raccoon eviction today!

When female raccoons choose an attic as a den site for their young, our first approach is often to work with their natural instincts rather than against them. By understanding raccoon biology and behavior, we’re frequently able to encourage a mother to relocate her litter to an alternate den site on her own.

While not 100% effective, it works consistently, and it’s a great outcome. No trapping, no animals handled, and no unnecessary stress—just a maternal raccoon doing what nature designed her to do and moving her young to a place she feels is safer.

A great example of how understanding wildlife behavior can lead to effective, professional solutions.

Wildlife exclusion doesn’t have to be an eyesore.

This gable vent exclusion was technically keeping animals out, but the oversized hardware, bulky screening, and damaged louvers left a lot to be desired.

We removed the old materials, restored the vent, and re-excluded it with low-profile steel screening for a cleaner, stronger, more professional finish.

At Trifecta, we put as much thought into how our exclusion repairs look as how they perform. The results speak for themselves.

Do your research before you hire a wildlife removal company, because ‘fixed’ shouldn’t mean ‘ugly.’

Think snakes 🐍 don’t end up in attics?

This large black rat snake was removed from a Nicholasville attic today by one of our specialists. Rat snakes are excellent climbers and often enter attics while hunting mice and other rodents.

If you hear unexplained noises overhead, it may not be what you think.

Not all wildlife exclusion work is structurally equal.

Recently, we were called to reinforce and redesign previously repaired raccoon entry points at two soffit returns on a Lexington home.

The existing repairs relied primarily on thin aluminum flashing and sealant without substantial reinforcement behind the soffit structure itself. With light hand pressure, the assembly could still be displaced — leaving the home vulnerable to future raccoon intrusion.

Our solution involved:
✔ opening and inspecting the assembly
✔ custom-fabricating galvanized steel reinforcement
✔ rebuilding the vulnerable areas from behind
✔ maintaining clean, low-visibility aesthetics

The finished result is dramatically stronger while remaining virtually invisible from the exterior.

Wildlife exclusion should be more than cosmetic.

Birds love flat ledges above porch columns — unfortunately, that often means messy nests, droppings, and constant cleanup for homeowners.

In this case, decorative owl decoys had been hanging for nearly 20 years without solving the issue. Our solution was a custom-fabricated “bird slide” system installed by Trifecta specialist Tim.

Using color-blended aluminum flashing, we created clean angled transitions above the columns to eliminate the flat nesting ledges entirely. No spikes. No electricity. No gimmicks. Just a discreet, mechanical exclusion solution designed to blend into the architecture and work for years to come.

Most people will never even notice the modification — but the birds certainly will.
