Old Soul Co.

Our Riley's Irish Pub & Grill window is finally aglow again 🍀

This beaut is no doubt the centerpiece of our kitchen - so many meals, conversations, and memories will be made in front of this window... much like its past life, I'm sure. Now that it's secure & anchored to the wall, we just need to trim out and stain the frame to be the same color as our island and hood.

My favorite part of the design that was completely unintentional - the pendant lights over the island are spheres mimicking that circle center of the glass. Ahhh! I love when things just come together like that.

A little gothic 🖤
A little whimsy 🥀

Perfection.

This taupe + bone combo was the right choice, wasn’t it?

Our GC Arron knocked this floor out of the park.

September 1, the hardwood refinishing process starts and then the whole house can look a little more complete. Progress, progress, progress. 🤎🤍

Turns out it's kinda chic to save the old house. 🤎

The house had her time to shine on a podcast! 🎙️

We also dropped some exciting tea on a tour opportunity for those interested in seeing this old soul in person. 👀

Big thanks to Kelsey at Local Living Real Estate for reaching out and letting me talk for an hour about my love for this project. 🤎

What is it about brick floors… they’re just SO dreamy.

They feel old-world, worn, cozy - yet brand new and thoughtfully designed with the herringbone pattern & border. The grout perfectly landed in all the grooves to deliver the aged look I was after. Nothing in this home should look that “new” after all.

I’m in awe at how good these floors are turning out in our large mudroom + walk-through pantry. I want these spaces to feel a little more causal than the rest of the house… have that cottage look. We quickly discovered we’ll need many more bags of grout to finish but I’m loving how it’s looking and can’t wait to share more pictures in the coming days!

If you all have been following along on my stories, you know the kitchen + pantry + mudroom is coming along nicely!

Our beautiful quartz counters got installed this week and I couldn’t be happier with how all that dramatic veining perfectly pulls together the deep green cabinets and rich walnut accents from the hood + island. Out of this world good 😍

Still to-do:
• island needs the chunky legs on either end installed
• cafe appliances need ordered (waiting on the best sale 🤞)
• backsplash to be ordered
• floors need refinished
• beautiful pendant lights need hung (they are GORGEOUS)
• fluted glass panels need to be hung on the cabs either side of the stove - s/o Lafayette Co. Glass for those

Ah, so close yet so far away!

Big thanks to Stonewood Granite for the quick order & install of our countertops! Highly recommend and so happy we used local.

Butterflies universally symbolize transformation, rebirth, and hope. Funny, because that’s exactly the season this old home is currently going through.🤎

I'm a big signs + symbols person, so when we brought paint over to the house the other night and this beauty greeted me in the turret room, I took it as a sign that only good, hopeful energy awaits here. Even better, the colors on her wings perfectly matched the stained glass window in the room.

We're turning this space into my home office, and I'm thinking Spiced W**e dipped all over the walls and trim will make the coziest little spot to spend my workdays. We're also adding a beautiful copper tin ceiling to match our restored cupola outside!

Small space, big impact — I can't wait to share it with you all once it's done. 🦋

A few glowy glimpses at our beautiful new grand staircase space 🦚

The checkerboard marble floor comes in later this week! Can’t wait to share which color combo we went with thanks to all of your votes a few posts back.

If this pretty gold boy doesn’t give big castle energy, I don’t know what does.

Big big thank you to Jane Dempsy Giorza for gifting us this gorgeous door knocker. Her and her husband were given this as a wedding gift years ago and never quite found the right door for him to hang out on. 45 years of wedded bliss later and he finally found a forever home. 🤎

Looking at the detail yesterday, I noticed a cross emblem on the knocker and it mimics the same cross pattern on our staircase. Talk about a match made in gothic Victorian architecture heaven!
