As a realtor, I walk through a lot of houses. But the things that make a house feel like home to me aren't always the biggest kitchens, the newest finishes, or the most square footage.
For me, it's the little things.
Natural light had to make this list because I absolutely love bright spaces. Ironically, my apartment bedroom gets SO much morning sun that I've been waking up way earlier than I'd like lately. Blackout curtains are officially on the shopping list. 😅
And if you know me, you know I had to include cozy spaces. I am all about cozy. Ask anyone — 99% of the time you'll find me curled up on a couch or comfy chair. It's where I work, where I eat most of my meals, where I drink my coffee, and where I unwind at the end of the day. Every home needs a spot that makes you want to stay awhile.
Walkability made the list too, but I think that can look different for everyone. I loved living in my townhouse because I could walk around the neighborhood multiple times a day, every day. Now I love living in Morristown because I'm within walking distance of coffee shops, restaurants, and so many fun places. Whether it's a neighborhood trail, a downtown area, or simply a street you enjoy walking, I think having somewhere to get outside and move around makes a huge difference.
The homes that stick with me aren't always the biggest or most expensive ones. They're the ones with character, warmth, and spaces that simply feel good to be in.
