NOW AVAILABLE: Against Prison Architecture Tool Kit.
The National Council’s Against Prison Architecture toolkit examines architects’ role in prison expansion and challenges claims that prisons can be “feminist,” “trauma-informed,” or “gender-responsive.”
Drawing on our campaigns in Vermont and Massachusetts, the toolkit centers the expertise of people directly impacted by incarceration. It documents how communities can use the design process to challenge new prison and jail construction, from legal interventions to local zoning fights.
Read the toolkit to explore the strategies, campaign lessons, and opportunities for community participation.
