My search for the best burger in Louisville continues… this week with a Derby twist. I'm still taking suggestions on where to try, and this one came highly recommended! I met D Scott Harper at Porch Kitchen, connected to the Marriott downtown on W. Jefferson.

It just so happened our lunch meetup fell on Oaks Day, and the place was absolutely alive with energy. We waited about fifteen minutes to be seated, but it was well worth it… plenty of fun people-watching while we waited.

We both ordered the Wagyu Double Cheeseburger, a brisket blend served with fries… and got the burgers as they came. This burger doesn't neatly fit into either of Louisville's two burger categories (smash burger or large fresh patty). The double patties aren't super thick but aren't as crispy as a smash burger either. The cheese was lightly melted around the patties, and it's dressed with lettuce, onion, pickles, and secret sauce.

You may recall I like taking pickles off but leaving a little pickle flavor behind. This time I forgot to remove them… but honestly, it wasn't bad and didn't affect the experience negatively at all.

The highlight was the secret sauce. It's your classic burger sauce, but they weren't shy with it… which is exactly how I like it. Yes, it got a little messy, but the napkins were up to the task.

The most remarkable thing? Finding a quality burger that competes with the best in town and defies category. I'll definitely be back!

A stranger came up to me last week and said, "Oh, I see you on Facebook all the time - I thought you'd be way taller than you really are."

So, I wanted to set the record straight on a few things...

1. I'm 5'8" tall.
2. My family lives in the Highlands and we love our neighborhood!
3. If you see me in the wild, I’m probably at the Lynn Family Stadium going to a Louisville City FC game! ⚽
4. My favorite color is blue.
5. If you see me eating out, it's probably going to be at Kashmir downing the Lamb Saag.
6. I'm actually an introvert, but I do like people!
7. Yes, my listing tours consistently get an average of 68,000 views.
8. I used to be a teacher before I got into real estate.
9. My favorite sweet treat is a milkshake from Graeter's.
10. Yes, I'm that Realtor you see on Facebook all the time - come and say hi if you see me out and about!
11. I’ve lost about 50 lbs over the last few years with help from my friends at Full Tilt Gym.

If there is anything else you'd like to know about me, ask below. I'm an open book!

You will know your kids as adults far longer than you’ll know them as children. If you’re lucky, you’ll know your kids for about 50 years. Your kids will only be “kids” for about 10 of those 50 years. That means 80% of the time you’ll ever have with your kids, they’re not “kids.”

You only get:
1 summer with them as a baby
3 as a toddler
5 as a child
3 as a pr***en
6 as a teen

Enjoy it while it lasts. Don’t waste those years.

Oh, and one more thing… if you're looking for the perfect house to make your memories in, my cell is (502) 415-3649.

Let’s talk.

Have you ever seen 50,000 rubber duckies in one spot? Well, you can see it with your own eyes right here on the Ohio River on April 25th!

If you haven’t heard of the Ken-Ducky Derby, let me tell you about it! It’s a fundraiser benefitting the Harbor House right here in Louisville. They also have a ton of prizes that you don’t want to miss (check their website out for more information!)

All of the proceeds from the Ken-Ducky Derby support the programs and services of Harbor House of Louisville and their mission to empower individuals with disabilities and their families to lead fulfilled and productive lives. I recently toured their facility, and I was very impressed with how they are able to impact the lives of people right here in Louisville from childcare to senior care. It’s all really cool!

A single duck costs only $5, but they have different packs that you can buy, too.

They have a big goal of dumping 50,000 duckies into the river. Right now they’ve received adoptions for just over 14,800 ducks and raised over $55,000. So, let’s help them reach their goal!

All of the fun is happening on April 25th (I’ll be there!) on the waterfront behind Joe’s Crab Shack. All you need is a Derby pin to get in - pretty simple! Will I see yah there?

The weather in March always starts off so crappy, but it ends feeling springy and like a new beginning. It was a good month - here’s a little recap. ⬇️

It was a good month of selling homes, and we also had lots of family time together, which is such a refresher!

I also have a new nephew - he’s as sweet as can be. His name is Arlo!

Ryan’s indoor Mockingbird team won their tournament, and it was a lot of fun to witness their teamwork and excitement bringing home that trophy! We’re now getting into track season and outdoor soccer season - this boy sure keeps us busy!

My wife, Samantha, and I had a fun out-of-town date to Indy that we tied on to a work trip of hers. It was fun to escape for a day and just be together. We had a fantastic Italian dinner with a view.

If you know us, you know we love the farmers market - we go nearly every Saturday! As it warms up, we can’t wait to make this our tradition again!

I’m hoping to keep going to a lot of Louisville City soccer games this season - anything else fun going on around town soon?

Last week, I headed to Indianapolis with my wife, Samantha. She's been traveling a LOT for work lately so lately it's felt like we've been two ships just passing each other. However, I didn't have any showings or appointments scheduled, so I worked remotely while she did her thing.

It was not only great to spend intentional time together in the car on our little road trip to Indy, but it was also cool to be a part of her world and seeing what she does on a day-to-day basis. She works for Quince, if you've heard of that!

We ended a busy day with dinner downtown - it was awesome!

It was a great reminder that even when life is super busy, we can choose to slow down and prioritize what's important in life. And Sam (and our marriage) is definitely a priority to me! 🙂

My new signs finally came in. What do you guys think?

So many people are THINKING of selling right now, I figured I'd make a sign just for them.

Every house is for sale for the right price. 😉
