We spend a lot of time talking with communities, elected leaders, and utility partners about energy demand and the impact of data center growth.

One question comes up often: Do data centers increase electricity rates?

A new analysis from Energy and Environmental Economics, Inc. reviewed more than 10 studies and found no consistent link between data center growth and higher consumer electricity costs.

In several cases, data centers generated surplus utility revenues that can help spread system costs across a larger customer base.

As communities plan for the future, it's important that conversations about energy are grounded in facts and data.

Rowan prioritizes the responsible use of water at every step. That is why we're using a fully closed loop cooling system that will not require a continuous supply of water beyond a small amount for the health and hygiene of our employees onsite.

This project is also water POSITIVE — meaning we're returning more water to the aquifer than we use. We're able to do this in collaboration with our hyperscale partner through an investment in the Edwards Aquifer Conservancy Groundwater Conservation Program. Learn more about it in the video below!

We talk a lot about economic impact — a $900M investment here in Medina County, 600+ construction jobs, 40+ FTE with wages starting at $80k — because those are some of the most immediate and measurable benefits of building a data center in a community.

And the broader impact is showing up across Texas. New research from PwC found that the data center industry generated $4.5 billion in state and local tax revenue in 2024 alone — enough to cover more than one-fifth of Texas’ spending on highways, streets, and related infrastructure.

It was a busy weekend in Medina County!

On Friday, we hosted our neighbors for another dinner. We host these events to ensure everyone has an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to our team about Project Cinco. It's a small way to show how grateful we are for their collaboration throughout construction.

Then, we put on our boots and danced at the annual Audrey Jane's Light 2026 Country Music Fest! Rowan was proud to be a sponsor of this incredible event benefiting the rare disease community — including a family right here in Medina County.

If you want to connect with our team, feel free to reach out any time at www.rowanmedina.com/contact.
