As a contractor, time is the most valuable tool that we have. Here is one of the worst parts of the job:

Customer: I need a quote to repair / replace this chimney and gable vent. I also need the algae removed from the roof. I have been written up by the city and have 14 days to get in compliance to keep my rental certificate.

Me: Ma’am, we’re pretty backed up and I don’t know if we can accommodate your timeframe.

Customer: Please, you come highly recommended. I really need this done ASAP!

Me: Alright, I’ll get by there and quote it and do my best to fit it in.

Customer: Thank you!

- Next day -

Customer: Have you been by there? I’m running out of time!

Me: No ma’am, not yet. I will this evening.

- Next day -

Me: Sends quote over next morning @ 8:00am
(App allows me to see that the quote was opened at 8:10am)

Customer: 🦗 🦗🦗

Me: Ma’am, I have a crew that I can send this weekend to get it taken care of!

Customer: 🦗🦗🦗

Me: Hello?

Customer: 🦗🦗🦗

The customer that “had to have it immediately” just waisted 4 hrs of time and effort. I went the distance to pull a crew together to meet the unrealistic time line in today’s market and was met with silence. Not even the decency to tell me “we can’t afford this” or “we’re gonna have to look at other options”.

I made sure to udate their contact with the message “Too busy” so i know how to respond the next time they wanna waste my time!
