🏆 MONROE COUNTY STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 🏆
Presented by Zeke Massengill, REALTOR® | Edmonds Realty & Auction Group
Congratulations to this week’s Student Athlete of the Week, Cheyenne Zimmerman-Leaf!
Cheyenne’s journey in cheer is a great example of what hard work and determination can accomplish. While many cheerleaders begin at a young age, Cheyenne didn’t start until her sophomore year. She put in countless hours of work at home, developed a genuine passion for the sport, and that dedication has now earned her the opportunity to continue cheering in college!
When asked what drives her, Cheyenne pointed to gratitude—being thankful for the opportunity to participate in a sport she loves and recognizing that not every student gets that same opportunity.
Coach Cassie Ferguson described Cheyenne as dedicated, hardworking, passionate, encouraging, and kind. But what stands out most goes far beyond her athletic ability.
“She is a teammate who supports, encourages, and prays for the girls around her. She leads with kindness, carries herself with grace, and constantly strives to better herself—not just as an athlete, but as a person.”
Coach Ferguson also shared that Cheyenne’s contagious smile and positive attitude make her a breath of fresh air at practices and games, bringing joy and encouragement wherever she goes.
And Cheyenne understands that the word STUDENT comes first in Student Athlete. She takes pride in representing her school well, maintaining her academics, respecting her teachers, and setting the right example inside the classroom as well as on the sidelines.
Cheyenne, congratulations on a well-deserved honor! Keep working hard, keep believing in yourself, and most importantly, keep allowing your faith to guide you. We’re excited to see what the future holds for you!
