Buildings, Parks, Cemeteries & Maintenance Supervisor:
The City of Hartford is seeking a qualified and motivated Buildings, Parks, Cemeteries & Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operations of City buildings, parks, pools, and cemeteries. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, well-maintained public facilities and delivering high-quality services to the community.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building and facility maintenance, including preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of building components, mechanical systems, and equipment. Responsibilities include supervising maintenance activities, analyzing facility needs for major repairs or improvements, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience in building maintenance operations, including HVAC systems, boiler operations, and general mechanical systems
• Knowledge of pool mechanical systems, including Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or the ability to obtain
• Familiarity with electrical maintenance, carpentry, cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
• Experience with landscaping and grounds maintenance
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor and respond to after-hours call-ins as needed
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work professionally with the public, City staff, families, and funeral homes on cemetery-related matters
• Ability to follow direction, manage assignments effectively, and work as part of a collaborative team
• A Bachelor’s degree or completion of technical school training specializing in management and facility maintenance is required.
Schedule and Compensation:
• Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• On-call availability for nights and weekends is required
• Starting wage: $34.91 per hour, with potential wage increases at 6 months and one year
