We are celebrating a massive milestone in aviation history as American Airlines marks 45 years of its hub operations at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Since the first landing at the new facility in 1974 and the official hub launch on June 11, 1981, this partnership has transformed North Texas into a premier global gateway. What began with service to just 11 destinations like Austin, Orlando, and Honolulu has evolved into the world’s second-largest hub with over 900 peak daily departures.
Today, American Airlines operates out of all five terminals at DFW, providing nonstop access to more than 230 destinations. The growth continues with major investments in Terminals A and C, alongside the highly anticipated opening of Terminal F in 2027. It is incredible to see how this hub has become the cornerstone of a global network, connecting more travelers than anywhere else in the world.
Do you remember your first flight through DFW or your favorite destination you have reached from this hub?
